Mary's lying Low

THE woman at the centre of an infamous love triangle murder trial was lying low yesterday after her ex Patrick Quirke lost an appeal against his conviction.

Mary Lowry's evidence was key in helping nail her former lover for the killing of much-loved DJ Bobby “Mr Moonlight” Ryan.

The widow's love life was played out in public when farmer Quirke – with whom she previously had an affair went on trial for the murder of Mr Ryan.

The 52-year-old was convicted in 2019 after the longest trial in the history of the State.

Mr Ryan, 52, was Ms Lowry's partner when he went missing in 2011.

His body was found 22 months later in an underground tank on farmland owned by Ms Lowry and leased by Quirke at Fawnagowan near Tipperary town.
