KNOCKED OUT OF THE EUROS AGAIN

IRELAND has been relegated from plans to host Euro 2020 games this summer.

Dublin was due to host three group matches and a round of 16 clash but time ran out for the Government and FAI to give guarantees on fan attendance.

The games will instead be played in London and St Petersburg.

Minister of State for Sport Jack Chambers told RTE’s Claire Byrne Live: “Given the uncertain times, it was not possible to deliver the games in the manner UEFA wished.

“I am confident the experience will put Ireland in a good position to attract such events in the future.”

Group games involving Poland , Sweden and Slovakia will now be held in St Petersburg.

A round of 16 encounter due for Dublin, that could feature England, will instead take place in Wembley.
