IAN Bailey has told for the first time how his long-time partner Jules Thomas dumped him by letter.
She got a friend to write it for her and then left it on the kitchen table addressed to him to read in her West Cork home, The Prairy, last March.
The talented painter outlined her feelings in writing, informed him their romance was over, and asked him to leave when he had somewhere else to go.
Writing in the Big Issue, the prime suspect in the Sophie Toscan du Plantier murder revealed how the year 2021 had become the most difficult period of his life.
The eccentric 64-year-old recalled how last Christmas was lonely and the sign of things to come.
