STEVE Hodge's England teammates were furious when he bagged Diego Maradona's shirt following the Hand of God goal, but now the former midfielder has got the last laugh.
Hodge, 59 - who said it was an honour to play against the Argentinian legend and vowed he would never cash in - is selling the blue No 10 jersey for around €4.8million at auction.
He unintentionally flicked the ball into the air for Maradona to beat scrambling goalkeeper Peter Shilton during the 1986 World Cup quarter-final.
Maradona claimed it was the "hand of God” after winning 2-1 when replays showed he punched the ball into the net.
Defender Kenny Sansom, 63, recalled: "The dressing room was an angry place because we felt we'd been cheated, could have got to the final and maybe won it.
"Some of us had a go at Steve Hodge asking why he wanted Maradona's shirt when he was a cheat.
“But I've since heard what it's worth and now we all wish wed got it."
Former midfielder Peter Reid, 64, said he was shown the shirt when they returned to the team hotel.
