I'm proud to be Ireland's first openly gay TV presenter. It was hard to do 25 years ago

BRENDAN Courtney is proud of what he has achieved as Ireland's first openly gay TV host.

While the presenter and fashion designer took it in his stride when he appeared on screen 25 years ago, he now realises just how hard it was.

But, looking back, Brendan has no misgivings after celebrating his 50th birthday in June.

He said: "Jeneregretterien, there is no point in having regrets. I am not regretful at all, I am very proud of myself.
