Brenda Fricker opened up about her battle with depression - lifting the lid on the loneliness that comes with being a recluse.
In an interview on The Tommy Tiernan Show, she recalled the highs and lows of her career, including how it felt to win an Oscar and why she decided to take a break for 10 years.
However, it was the recount of her struggle with depression and loneliness that had viewers hailing her for honesty and frankness at home. The My Left Foot star, 75, said she spends her days, “talking to the wall, talking to the dog, writing poetry, reading books, watching television. Nothing different than anyone else does”. However, she added: “Except, being alone so much can make you talk to the wall more than most people.”
