TAOISEACH Micheal Martin is to make a State of the Nation address this evening, lifting the 8pm curfew on pubs.
He will outline how the country is set to move forward into the next chapter of living with Covid-19.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan gave the green light to start easing restrictions following a NPHET meeting yesterday.
In his letter to Health Minister Stephen Donnelly, he stated: “There is no longer a continuing public health rationale for the majority of the public health measures currently in place”.
A senior Government source said: There will be an early lifting of restrictions and pubs will get to stay open later from early next week.
There will be a comprehensive plan announced by the Taoiseach as there is agreement it's time to move on to the next chapter.
“We will of course listen to public health advice and react again if needed but everyone is relaxed s about the near future now.
