My parents divorced when I was three years old and my mum and older sisters wanted nothing more to do with my dad.
By all accounts, he wasn’t a great father – he had affairs and wasn’t very hands-on with us kids, and didn’t stay in touch after he left. However, I recently ran into his brother, who gave me my dad’s phone number and we’ve been back in touch with each other.
We talk on the phone regularly and meet up for walks every few months or so.
