ABU DHABI

Abu Dhabi has ended a policy requiring those coming in from other emirates to have a recent negative coronavirus test.

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis, and Disasters Committee made the announcement on Saturday, saying that citizens and residents from the other emirates could enter the capital from Sunday (Sept.19) without getting a coronavirus test.

Abu Dhabi had restricted entry into the emirate to those with a negative PCR test.

The committee has approved home quarantine without the use of wristbands for international travelers and those in contact with positive cases, effective from Sunday. Those with positive cases must still wear a wristband.

The committee has also approved continued strict adherence to home quarantine procedures and required testing schedules based on personal responsibility, apart from monitoring by healthcare systems to ensure compliance with precautionary measures. Violators will be reported to the Attorney-General.

The decision follows the announcement of a decreased COVID-19 infection rate in the emirate of 0.2 per cent of total tests and the activation of the green pass system to enter some public places.
