MEASURES to boost the security of MPs will be implemented in the wake of the killing of Sir David Amess, Dame Cressida Dick said today as she expressed her dismay at the “horrible” crime.

Met boss vows to boost MPs' security after Sir David killing

The Met Commissioner said that her force had been in touch with every London MP to discuss their security arrangements and would work with colleagues nationally to review the protection of parliamentarians and their staff.

She said any changes necessary would be made and promised that police would also pursue online threats made to politicians in a further effort to reassure them about their safety.

Her comments, in an appearance before City Hall’s policing and crime committee, came as counter-terrorism detectives continued to question suspect Ali Harbi Ali over the killing of Sir David.
