Burberry lures new chief away from Versace

BURBERRY has poached Jonathan Akeroyd from Italian fashion house Gianni Versace to continue its push upmarket. Akeroyd, 54, below, will replace Marco Gobbetti whose surprise decision to step down as CEO of the iconic trenchcoat maker shocked the City in June.

Akeroyd has run Versace for five years, and before that oversaw a turnaround at Alexander McQueen having spent several years at Harrods.
