Chief fears rockets becoming weapons

A POLICE boss says he would ban fireworks if he was “given half a chance”.

Chief Constable Stephen Watson fears it is “only a matter of time before someone is killed”.

Just weeks before Bonfire Night on November 5, he warned that powerful fireworks are being used as weapons rather than in displays.

Greater Manchester’s top cop said: “We have had people almost pointing rockets at passing vehicles and buses and putting them into telephone kiosks and all the rest of it.”
