BEACHGOERS have been warned to stay out of the sea this weekend as it’s still dangerously cold – despite the UK’s hottest day of the year yesterday.
Temperatures reached 22C in central London, smashing March 23’s previous high by 1.2C.
It meant Britain was hotter than the Costa del Sol.
But sunseekers heading for the coast are still being urged to not to try to cool off in the water amid fears of “cold-water shock” deaths. The RNLI said the sea is not hot enough to spend much time in, with water temperatures hovering around 8-10C still among the coldest of the year.
