With delicious irony today is National Thank A Teacher Day.

Don't Start A Class War Over Our Kids

Hands up if you even knew there was such a thing? Nope, me neither.

And blimey we should thank them because most of us confronted with a class of snotty little kids or snottier teenagers would be gibbering in a corner or up for murder.

Teaching is vastly underrated, underpaid and hugely stressful. And these days, given so many feckless parents, teachers also have to be social workers, psychologists, nutritionists and surrogate mums and dads.

They’re trained to educate, not deal with a child who has no idea how to dress themselves or use a knife and fork, let alone read. Neglect, abuse and generations of bad parenting are suddenly dumped in their classrooms.

Teachers need medals. Kids need help. What neither group need are militant unions who loathe the Tory government so much they are willing to put politics before science.

Yet this is where we are now with coronavirus. There is zero proof that Covid-19 spreads wildly in schools.
