The Good Morning Britain presenter was interviewing Vinnie Jones when he got Her Majesty mixed up with Prince Philip, who passed away last month.
The former Labour spin doctor said: “We’ve talked a lot about Prince Philip after the death of the Queen…”
Moments later, the red-faced host interrupted co-presenter Susanna Reid to say: “Can I just say, Susanna, I think I may have accidentally announced the death of the Queen. I meant Prince Philip.”
Susanna nodded her head before telling him: “People knew exactly what you meant.”
But the gaffe left many viewers at home stunned.
One wrote: “#GMB Death of the queen?” Another penned: “Has @ campbellclaret just told us, the Queen died? #gmb”
