Fears giant turbines could hamper national security

CONTROVERSIAL plans for a wind farm in Moray have been opposed by the MoD over fears RAF typhoon jets could crash into its turbines.

The proposed location for the extension to Clashindarroch Wind Farm, in the Cabrach, is also a tactical training area for pilots at RAF Lossiemouth.

Defence officials further warned the 650ft turbines about twice the size of Big Ben - would threaten national security by interfering with radar equipment.

We previously told how a colourful and scandal-hit millionaire Tory donor, Dr Christopher Moran, is set to rake in millions as a landowner from plans to turn the area into the "UK's largest onshore wind park".

It comes amid fears the tiny Cabrach community has already reached "saturation point" for turbines despite a huge proposed expansion of wind power in the years ahead.
