When identical twins Lisa Macfarlane and Alana MacfarlaneKempner met up for the first time post-lockdown, it was an emotional reunion worthy of anything Nicky Campbell or Davina McCall could have masterminded on Long Lost Family.

It had been almost 10 weeks since the twins – who grew up in Edinburgh, but live in London – were driven apart when the coronavirus lockdown came into force.

They finally got to meet up last week after lockdown restrictions in England were eased – although they couldn’t touch and had to remain a safe distance apart.

Today, families around Scotland will be allowed to reunite as the first lockdown restrictions are tentatively relaxed so friends and loved ones from two different households can meet outside – as long as they keep 2m apart.

Lisa and Alana – successful DJs who run their own gut health business – warn it’s a good idea to have tissues at hand.

Lisa said: “It was very emotional.

“We talked about the deeper things we’d been bursting to say – like Alana said she talks to our late dad in the car, when she feels lost.
