TRAVEL SICK McCARTHY PULLS OUT

DENNY McCARTHY has withdrawn from the Travelers Championship in Connecticut after testing positive for coronavirus.

The American golfer, who opened with a 67 on Thursday, returned a positive test before yesterday’s second round.

Bud Cauley, who played with McCarthy but tested negative, has also withdrawn as a precautionary measure.

The development takes the number of players to have pulled out of the tournament for reasons relating to coronavirus to seven.

Cameron Champ withdrew after testing positive in pre-tournament testing, while Graeme McDowell and Brooks Koepka both pulled out after their caddies returned positive tests.
