City seat held again by SNP is a must-win

THE RECORD ON SCOTS VISIT MAN

NOBODY should be surprised by Labour leader Keir Starmer visiting the Glasgow East constituency during his trip to Scotland.

This iconic seat, which includes some of the poorest parts of the city, is a long-standing battleground between Labour and the SNP.

The Nationalists won it in a famous by-election in 2008 before Labour reclaimed it two years later.

The SNP took it again in their landslide victory in 2015 and held it at the last two general elections.

If Labour is serious about replacing the Tories at Westminster, Glasgow East is a must-win.

Starmer started his day with a trip to the indoor Forge Market, a favourite for bargain-hunting Glaswegians.

He also visited the Forge shopping centre, before packing parcels for the hungry at a venue in a neighbouring constituency.
