Sheeran, 30, said KT's solo act on Later... with Jools Holland shaped the way that he performed.
Edinburgh-born KT, 46, gave a memorable performance of her song Black Horse and the Cherry Tree where she debuted her signature loop pedal.
And Sheeran, 30, has now told how the performance inspired him.
Speaking to Holland, he said: “I am known as the one-man show with the loop station but there's so much history that comes before me.
