POLICE in Scotland claim they have saved nearly 500 children who were at risk of sex abuse.
But officers admit they still need to step up efforts to hunt down and catch online criminals as figures show a rise in internet child sexual abuse and fraud.
A total of 1966 online child sex abuse crimes were logged by Police Scotland during 2020-21 – a rise of nearly six per cent on the previous year and nearly 25 per cent more than the five-year average.
