A DEAL has been agreed to avert train staff striking during COP26.

Last-minute deal averts rail chaos

The RMT trade union had set out its final negotiating position, calling for a 2.5 per cent pay rise backdated to April and a "COP26 payment" for all staff.

A one-year deal has now been reached between the union and ScotRail, a source has told the Record.

The Scottish Government and ScotRail had imposed a deadline of 5pm yesterday for a resolution to the dispute over pay and conditions.
