Their 7000 panels generate 2000 MWh per year.Extra panels are on the roof of the byre power hi-tech milking machines and more are on the chocolate factory roof.The office and staff homes have been heated by a biomass boiler, which burns waste products rather than fossil fuel, for several years.This year, a new larger boiler will also power the farm&#39;s refrigeration system.They are also switching to ammonia, a refrigeration gas that does not create any emissions. These two changes will reduce the farm&#39;s energy use and carbon emissions by up to 80 per cent.They are now making their own tubs, saving 50,000 miles of lorry transport a year.
