Heroic lone PC fought off knife attacker

A LONE female police officer has been hailed a hero after she tackled a knife-wielding attacker while rescuing a woman despite knowing help was 90 minutes away.

Police Constable Claire Chalmers was called to reports of a violent male at a home in the south of the Isle of Mull.

When she arrived, she found a woman covered in blood who said she had been assaulted by a man still hiding in the property.

PC Chalmers found him hiding in another room under a duvet.

The man then produced two knives and aimed them at her.
