Green MSP Voted Into Presiding Role

Green MSP Alison Johnstone has become the Scottish Parliament’s new Presiding Officer.

Johnstone, 55, who represents the Lothians, was formally approved after a vote of MSPs.

She said: “I want to ensure the Parliament is a place of open debate but we do that in an environment of mutual tolerance and respect.”
