NOVAK DJOKOVIC faced deportation from Australia last night after being refused a visa on a day of drama.

But the world No.1 was set to appeal against the move that would see him barred from competing at first Grand Slam of 2022.

A visa bungle by his staff meant he was denied entry at Melbourne's Tullamarine airport after a 14-hour flight from Dubai.

Before taking off, Djokovic went onto social media to celebrate being given an exemption by doctors to participate in the Australian Open without being fully vaccinated against Covid.

However, the decision caused instant outrage in a region that has been one of the most fiercely locked down areas in the world.
