A HERO ferry skipper dived into the River Clyde to save a woman’s life after her car plunged into the water.
Quick-thinking Don MacPhee said he “couldn’t have lived with himself ” if he hadn’t jumped from the boat to rescue the stricken driver yesterday.
Don managed to free the 52-year-old woman from the car and drag her out before the vehicle sank at about 1pm.
He said: “I was driving the boat, thankfully there were two of us on.
“We were almost at the Yoker side when we heard a large splash.
“We quickly turned the boat around on full throttle and headed for the car.
“The car had started to float away at this point, so I jumped in and managed to get the woman out and on to the boat.
