Humanitarian workers may be branded as spies by captors

THE mother of a British aid worker captured forces by in Russian Ukraine said it is her "worst nightmare".

Paul Urey, 45, and Dylan Healey, 22, were held on Monday at a checkpoint near the south-eastern city of Zaporizhzhia.

The humanitarian aid volunteers were driving to evacuate a woman and two children when they were taken. It is feared the Russians will claim the men are spies.

Paul's mum Linda Urey, 62, said yesterday her son had been in Ukraine for the past week-and-a-half. "He had been over there before and then he went back. I begged him not to," she said.

"I said 'please don't go'. He said 'mum, I can't live with myself knowing that people need help to get to a safe place. I have to go.

"He is too caring. He is too kind."
