CAMPAIGNERS yesterday called on police to ensure the safety of sex workers flooding into Scotland to cash in on COP26.

Activists have warned the event could spell more danger than usual for sex workers and that tracing a delegate who commits a crime against a prostitute would be very difficult.

They hope police will leave brothels alone over the next few weeks.

Glasgow University’s Dr Anastacia Ryan, founder of city-based sex worker well-being project Umbrella Lane, said: “All policing related to the assumed increase in sex work during COP26 should focus on ensuring the safety of sex workers and of women generally, responding to reports of actual violence or abuse promptly whilst ensuring no criminal sanction for the victim regardless.
