BORIS Johnson's fantasy of a bridge from Scotland to Northern Ireland would have cost £335 billion and needed bombproof pillars because of explosives buried in the sea, says an official study.
The cost and difficulties of building Johnson's so-called “bridge to nowhere” are laid bare in the Union Connectivity Review which said “further work on the fixed link should not progress”.
The UK Government has abandoned plans to build a bridge between Larne in Ulster and Portpatrick in Galloway but the study by Peter Hendy shows how impossible it was in the first place.
