BORIS Johnson has been urged to step back from the IndyRef2 frontline by the mastermind of the Better Together campaign.

Blair McDougall said the Prime Minister should stop being the SNP’s “villain” and called for him to recognise the independence debate will be “won or lost” in Scotland.

IndyRef2 is shaping up to be a key issue at May’s Holyrood election after Nicola Sturgeon called for another referendum in the early part of the next term.
