Prince Andrew believes the megabucks deal struck between paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre will save him from facing a civil trial in America.
The 61-year-old is understood to be confident the sex abuse accusations case against him are likely to collapse after the £370,000 settlement was revealed for the first time last night.
Epstein struck the deal with his sex-trafficking victim Giuffre in 2009. It prevents her from suing other potential defendants”, which Andrew believes includes him.
But her attorney insists it will have no bearing on her case alleging sexual assault and rape in the first degree against the prince.
A royal source said: “While the winds of change have been consistently against him, Andrew is full of confidence he will see this out.
Both he and his team do not believe this will come to trial and if it does they will absolutely crush it”
The 12-page legal document, which makes no mention of Andrew by name, details Giuffre's agreement to release, acquit, satisfy and forever discharge” Epstein and “any other person or entity who could have been included as a potential defendant.
