ANITA RANI ON TV SHOW ABOUT RAISING KIDS: THERE IS GROWING TO BE TROUBLE

FOR the past two months, parents have been battling with their kids to do their schoolwork – now they’ll be competing to see who’s best at raising the next generation.

Parenting is one of those subjects that everyone has opinions on, from the food we should be giving kids to how we discipline them.

And now there’s a new show on Channel 4, Britain’s Best Parents?, in which mums and dads can compete to prove their way is how everyone should do it.

Each episode will see three different sets of parents showcase their individual techniques for a day – but they have to look after a child from each of the other two families as well as their own kids.

Made before lockdown, the series is hosted by Countryfile’s Anita Rani, who often has to mediate between the parents as things get heated.

Anita, 42, said: “It was really intense, especially with a big studio audience but when we made this show, I did say, ‘This isn’t about judgment’. This is just about them showing the world the way they do it, and why they do it that way, and all of them are brilliant.

“They’ve all got very different opinions and it didn’t mean there weren’t disagreements in the studio – there were. It got quite heated and got quite emotional at times. But, also, they all really took on board what each of them had to say. There’s a lot of respect among the parents.

“You can get mates who have known each other for years who all do things very, very differently with their children.

“I guess you’d never talk about it because it’s quite an emotive subject. What we’ve done is put it into a studio so, hopefully, it will create a bit of a national discussion.”
