It was never going to be long before unscrupulous rogues started to take advantage of the coronavirus outbreak.
Among them there’s the website TheBestRateBonds.co.uk, which targeted savers with prominent Google adverts that promised: “Get the BEST Bond rates in the UK.”
If you clicked through to its website you were hit with a marketing pitch about how now is the time to put your savings into bonds.
“The stock market has been hit hard with fear about Covid-19, hit back with fixed rate bonds,” it read. “Start investing with a Regulated fixed rate bond today.
“Get specialist Premium Investments From the UK’s Leading Bond Firm.”
Apart from the random use of capital letters, this all seems quite promising, especially the bit about being regulated.
The site went on to offer a guaranteed fixed income, no hidden fees and high income returns.
