Iranians suspected as oil tanker hit by rocket

A British member of an elite security team has been killed in a suspected Iranian rocket attack on an oil tanker.

A drone air-strike is thought to have hit the Israeli-operated tanker in the Arabian Sea, 185 miles southeast of Oman.

Sources told the Daily Mirror Iranian militia are suspected as having been behind the attack, which also killed one Romanian.

It has sparked fears of an escalation in the region, possibly between US-backed Israel and Iran as western commanders thrash out plans for a military response.

Senior UK commanders were last night locked in meetings in a bid to try and decide what to do if the situation escalates.
