Anfield: You'll never walk alone, Andrew

LIVERPOOL players stood in silence yesterday to pay their respects to Hillsborough victim Andrew Devine.

Andrew, 55, became the 97th person to die as a result of the terrace crush at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final.

And at their pre-season training camp in Austria, the Reds’ players bowed their heads for 97 seconds to remember him and the other 96 victims.

The club tweeted a photo with the words: “Our players and staff paid tribute to Andrew Devine this morning by observing a 97-second silence. You’ll Never Walk Alone, Andrew.”

Anfield manager Jurgen Klopp said everyone was “very sad” at the news.

He added: “We have lost an incredible person, someone who showed us all what it is to fight and who refused to give in even when the expectation was he could fight no more.”
