AT LAST...TORIES TURN ON PM

TORIES finally turned on Boris Johnson yesterday as he faces a probe into claims he lied over No10 parties.

With the PM in India, veteran MPs called on him to quit.

One, Steve Baker, said: The PM should know the gig's up.

BORIS Johnson will return from the Indian sun to face even more heat after the Tories' mood over his Partygate excuses changed dramatically.

With the PM now facing a probe on accusations he repeatedly lied to Parliament by denying boozy get-togethers took place, two veteran MPs and a peer joined the growing list of those calling for him to quit.

After days of loyal Tories trotting out let's move on mantras over Mr Johnson's law-breaking, others finally appear to be having the courage to challenge his crumbling authority.

And it is thought more could follow suit, especially if the PM is hit with more fines as expected.

But shameless Mr Johnson yesterday again refused to resign, insisting he had nothing to hide” from the Privileges Committee probe.

A Tory bid to delay a decision to refer the PM for investigation was dropped at the last minute and the Labour motion passed unopposed.

Dozens of furious MPs had threatened to abstain, which would have exposed the discomfort in the party. They were given a free vote.

The mutiny was led by Steve Baker who said during a Commons debate on the investigation vote: “The Prime Minister should know the gig's up.
