Hancock said charges would halt but trusts cash in

AROUND 185,000 NHS staff are being charged to park at hospitals and clinics where they work, despite Matt Hancock pledging to axe fees in the pandemic.

A Mirror investigation found some trusts are cashing in on workers who are trying to keep the country safe.

Health Secretary Mr Hancock vowed to scrap charges in England at the start of the Covid outbreak.

But a poll of 2,000 staff conducted for the Mirror by the GMB found only 6% had stopped being charged and are again paying, while 8% have been paying fees throughout the crisis.
