Rs.337mn worth gold seized with Doha passenger and airport technician

Almost within four weeks of the largest gold detection in history by the Customs, a far greater amount of gold was detected by Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport worth Rs.337 million from a passenger returning from Doha, Qatar yesterday.

Officials attached to the Customs Narcotic Control Unit thwarted an attempt to smuggle out a large stock of gold with the assistance of an airport employee last morning, similar to the previous case detected on April 4th.
