Pills And Alcohol Turned Top Golfer Into A Zombie, Jet Grope Trial Is Told

Golfer Thorbjorn Olesen groped a woman’s breast on a flight after sleeping pills mixed with alcohol turned him into an “automaton”, a court heard.

The Ryder Cup star, 31, swallowed two of his girlfriend’s Zolpidem tablets without realising it was double the recommended dose, jurors were told.

The pills, on top of beer, vodka, wine and champagne, left him with no control or memory of his behaviour, it was said yesterday.

Defence barrister Trevor Burke QC said Zolpidem plus alcohol can cause “automatism.” He said: “This was automatic behaviour over which he had no control.”
