The recording captured the Prime Minister’s then spokeswoman, Allegra Stratton, practising for proposed daily TV media briefings, a plan that was quickly abandoned.
Staff throw questions at her in the mock session held in the No9 press room.
Ed Oldfield, adviser to the prime minister, asked: “I’ve just seen reports on Twitter that there was a Downing Street Christmas party on Friday night, do you recognise those reports?”
Ms Stratton replies: “I went home.”
Laughing and then composing herself, she says “hold on”, before considering how to respond.
