Georgia Laurie heard Melissa cry out while swimming on a boat trip and after a frantic search found her floating face down in a lagoon.
As she cradled her stricken sibling, 28, the croc made lunges but brave Georgia unleashed a flurry of punches each time until the giant reptile let go.
Proud elder sister Hana Laurie, 33, said: “Georgia found her unresponsive and started to drag her back to the safety of a boat.
“But the crocodile kept coming back for more – so she just started hitting it. She’d heard that with some animals that’s what you’ve got to do.”
Hana said Melissa was thrown about like a rag doll by the predator, which grasped her in a death roll in the attack on the Mexican coast.
