Head Of BBC Admits He Doesn't Know If Any Of His Team Are Brexiteers

BBC boss Tim Davie claims he does not know if any of his senior management backed quitting the EU – because staff leave their political views out of their work.

He also insisted the corporation was right to start charging the over-75s for the licence fee.

Ministers are in final negotiations with the broadcaster over how much public funding the corporation will get next year.

During a grilling by MPs on BBC bias yesterday Mr Davie was asked if he had ever recruited anyone to the senior team who had backed Brexit.

He replied: “We are hiring people all the time. I don’t know where my top team is on Brexit. We don’t talk like that.”

Mr Davie’s open-ended answer may be interpreted by many to mean leavers are not well represented in the BBC’s executive.
