He also insisted the corporation was right to start charging the over-75s for the licence fee.
Ministers are in final negotiations with the broadcaster over how much public funding the corporation will get next year.
During a grilling by MPs on BBC bias yesterday Mr Davie was asked if he had ever recruited anyone to the senior team who had backed Brexit.
He replied: “We are hiring people all the time. I don’t know where my top team is on Brexit. We don’t talk like that.”
Mr Davie’s open-ended answer may be interpreted by many to mean leavers are not well represented in the BBC’s executive.
