STEFANOS TSITSIPAS fought back tears after he became the first Greek to reach a Grand Slam final.

The world No.5 had lost in the semi-finals of the past two Majors – and his compatriot Maria Sakkari also went out in the last four of the French Open women’s singles on Thursday.

But in Paris yesterday Tsitsipas held off a bold fightback from Alex Zverev to win an epic clash 6-3 6-3 4-6 4-6 6-3.

In an emotional courtside interview, the 22-year-old said: “All I can think of is my roots, where I came from. I came from a really small place outside of Athens.
