BRITAIN’S top military officer has lashed out at Ministry of Defence penpushers for “standing in the way” of reform – hampering vital efforts to keep the country safe.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin called for “more reliance and trust” in frontline commanders to go and see off threats across the world.

In his first speech since becoming Chief of the Defence Staff, he said the MoD operates in silos and is “too flat-footed” as he called for a “leaner head office and supporting organisations”.
