POP legend Sir Elton John is taking on World Cup bosses over the decision to stage the tournament in Qatar.

Activist Peter Tatchell argues that Qatar’s record on human rights and LGBT+ issues should preclude it from hosting football’s top competition.

And he has revealed that Sir Elton, who is the honorary life-president of Watford Football Club, and husband David Furnish, are backing him.

Peter said: “Elton is supporting my mission. I know he is concerned about the World Cup being held in Qatar and I will be liaising with him to ensure that something significant happens to profile the abuse of human rights in that country.”
