Azeem Rafiq, 30, the former Yorkshire cricketer who blew the whistle on racism in the sport, called the Middlesex club chairman’s comments “painful”.
He tweeted: “This has just confirmed what an endemic problem the game has. I actually can’t believe what I am listening to.”
