Abusers will stay in prison longer thanks to Tony's Law

CHILD abusers will spend longer behind bars it was announced yesterday – after tireless campaigning on behalf of six-year-old double amputee Tony Hudgell.

Tony’s Law will see the maximum jail term for those convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child increase from 14 years to life, bringing it into line with sentences for murder and manslaughter.

The maximum penalty for those convicted of child cruelty will also rise from 10 years to 14 years.
