IT’S tree cheers for Prince Charles as, watched by the Queen, he plants a sapling to mark his mother’s Platinum Jubilee next year.
The oak was dug in at Windsor Castle and the prince is urging the nation to do the same. Backed by the Queen and Boris Johnson, Charles wants to turn her 70 years on the throne into an environmental initiative – the Queen’s Green Canopy.
The Queen has herself planted more than 1,500 trees around the world during her reign. In a video message last night Charles pointed to the role that trees play in helping combat climate change and habitat loss.
