RYAN SHOTTON is well accustomed to life at the top – but the former Premier League defender would be the first to admit that 2020 didn’t exactly go to plan.

The 32-year-old has signed non-contract terms with local club Leek Town and has found that things are not quite how they used to be.

“He has been used to plush training facilities at Stoke and Middlesbrough,” explained manager Neil Baker on his new, high-profile addition.

“But finding a decent place to train is a bit hard to come by round here at the moment, so we’ve had to make do with training on park pitches – and even the club car park!”
